ORIGINAL RESEARCH: Pattern Analysis improvements Mirror improvements in Heart Rate Variability following KCUCS Upper Cervical Care
FIRST TIME: Pattern Analysis improvements Mirror improvements in Heart Rate Variability
Drs. Kessinger, Anderson, and Adlington were published in the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research (JUCCR) for their work entitled, "Improvement in Pattern Analysis, Heart Rate Variability and Symptoms Following Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care" Opens in new window . This is the first time we know of that Pattern Analysis has been directly compared to a known and accepted neurophysiological barometer.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the Gold Standard for assessing Autonomic Nervous System function. In this study we observed, by using a grading scale for both HRV and Pattern Analysis, a similar percentage of improvement for 3 separate cases. These were Dr. Kessinger’s patients. Dr. Anderson independently analyzed and scored the pre/post graphs via KCUCS Pattern Analysis. Dr. Adlington independently analyzed the HRV data. Once the data was collected we put it together to see what we found. We all three were quite surprised at how closely the improvements in HRV correlated with Pattern Analysis improvements following KCUCS Knee Chest care.
There is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more work to do. We think this is a good start in bringing the importance of Pattern Analysis to the forefront in Chiropractic subluxation assessment as well as verifying just how important upper cervical chiropractic is to the overall function of the Autonomic Nervous System.
